GSE continues to grow with the addition of our newest full-time industrial hygiene consultant, Daniella Mendes. Daniela graduated from Kean University with Bachelor's degrees in Earth/Environmental Science and Sustainability Science.
Daniela will be initially be involved with Right to Know and lead in drinking water projects. Welcome Daniela!

Congratulation to Tara Ekiert who recently received her AHERA Asbestos Building Inspector certification. Tara will join our team of asbestos consultants working with both public and private clients. Way to go Tara!

GSE is expanding with a new Northern Delaware Field Office. This will allow us to more efficiently service our many existing and new clients in the South Jersey and Philadelphia area, and Delaware and northeastern Maryland.

After a difficult period for everyone during the Covid 19 breakout, GSE will start growing our staff again with the addition of our newest full-time industrial hygiene consultant, Matt Duch. Matt graduated from Slippery Rock University and is joining Garden State Environmental on October 20, 2020.

The American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP), with approval of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), issued a new Z10 standard ANSI/ASSP Z10.0-2019 to update safety and health management systems.

A recent NJ State Water Task Force report has estimated that about 350,000 homes and businesses and an unknown number of apartment buildings and common interest communities are served by lead service lines. Lead pipes were common in buildings constructed before 1940, and lead solder was used until 1986.
In the summer of 2019, residents of a 37-story luxury tower in Newark’s downtown were being urged not to drink their water after recent tests showed elevated lead levels in the building.

The presence of mercury in rubber-like polyurethane floors continues to be an important issue in 2019. While many schools districts have tested suspect materials, surprisingly, many have still not. In some cases, budgetary limits are an issue, while in other cases we suspect competing priorities as a possible factor.
